Why make a category about things your parents said? Well there are several compelling reasons to do so. First of all, it will reduce stress and save your vocal chords because you will no longer have to to repeat them over and over to your own kids. Imagine how much handier it will be to just throw the magnet at them and grunt - honey read this. This also works with spouses, roommates and co workers.

Second, everyone did not have the same parents so this way you can "enjoy" parental statements of fact without having to go through the trauma of living with new parents. And last but not least, just imagine how much fun it will be to give unusual gifts like these ones to the siblings who have ignored your birthday for the past 10 years. Like my Dad always said "Don't make me come over there!" (and make you order more magnets)

What can't be said about parents?
They make the family - the good, the bad and the ugly. That is what makes a family group so bonded - it's our first gaze into the world, our education on how to relate to others and an up close view of intimacy and love on a grand scale. These are the people we experiment with in learning who we are and what we want to become. These are the people that implant sometimes critical and bizzare sayings into our psyche in an effort to make us become better people or simply behave.

I have rarely met a person who doesn't turn into thier parents in one way or another. I know I have - in too many ways to count. I suppose all kids think "my parents are dopes" at one time or another as a result of being told "Because I said so", " Not under my roof" or "Do what I say, not what I do" one too many times. That's OK. Now it's your turn, pick your redundant but memorable slogan and use it for all it's worth - who knows your kids might just grow up and make a refrigerator magnet out of it!
