Motivational Refrigerator Magnets, I named the site this because I wanted to choose an uplifting, yet direct name. It’s longer than I would have liked, but easy to remember, as long as you don't have to spell it out loud. This whole thing started when I got on another "word cards" painting jag. I periodically go through this compulsion to paint out phrases and laminate them. I have done this for years as my friends refrigerators can testify.

When the idea to share them hit me it was scary but very persistent. What if nobody thinks they are motivating? What if people think they are stupid? My experience has shown me that "What ifs" will kill a good idea faster than a frontal lobotomy so I made up my mind to push through. The result is this site. I humbly share my funky little word paintings in the hope that these motivational quotes and motivational sayings will enrich your life or at least make you smile. I can testify – they make good gifts, but make sure you get some for yourself too.

After years of painting and making everything under the sun, these word cards have kept popping up. This time I was in overdrive. I literally could not stop. My head was exploding with quotes and the only way to get any relief was to paint them, so paint I did. No one was more shocked than I to discover that the majority were motivational in nature. Where did all this come from? Motivational Quotes!?

I took these stacks of sayings everywhere I went and showed them to anyone who would rifle through the pile (and pile it was - at least several hundred) I was surprised that the first thing people did was start making a pile. Some folks related to the colors, others to the words, still others to the painting style. Everyone laughed out loud at least once and held up one and exclaimed “this is so true!” It makes people get in to a positive attitude too!

I cannot explain the allure of painted words. As a highly trained fine artist they are kind of crude and not "art". But for some reason I come back to making them time and again, going through different phases of sayings, styles and painting techniques. The process I usually use involves painting around the words. It is very relaxing to me and without it I swear I would be certifiable. I truly hope you enjoy these motivational quotes and that you find something that is fun and uplifting.
